BWCRU GENERAL BOARD MINUTES SEPTEMBER 22nd,2008

ATTENDING:  Nancy Fried, Cecily Gerla, Eileen Locker, Fern Rod, Rita Seiff, Faith Book, JoAnne Goldberg, Sandy Kanin, Ferne Emas, Maureen Kudler, Franne Dickman, Arlene Levine, Eileen Siegel, Lorrie Grossman, Harriet Locke.

The meeting was called to order by President Nancy Fried at 3:30 PM in the Bridgewood Meeting Room.

TREASURERS REPORT:  Eileen Locker

June through September 22- $2,165 was given to PAP Corps  We have $11,000 in our checkbook at this time.

MEMBERSHIP

Our directory is printed and ready for opening meeting.  Letters for renewal have been sent.

DONOR: Rita Seiff

Everyone PLEASE ALPHABETIZE all forms sent in for Donor Credit.

There is a new donor category for Men, (after donating $350 to BWCRU) they are entitled to a Silver Bangle Bracelet or a Caduceus.

FUND RAISING: Faith Book

Tributes-  Harriet Locke-  Net $6881.89

Pap Angels- Ferne Emas -500 letters ready to be sent out to Pap Angels at end of October.

Chance for a Cure raised $29,683.00

Walkathon- March 28th, 2009 at FAU.

Card Party and Lunch $100.

Golf and Tennis December 15th 2008.  Sandy Kanin-  All invitations ready to be mailed. The theme is Luau in Paradise-  Lorrie Grossman - decorating and gifts.

Raffle is a Silver Seas 9 day cruise ( Barbados to Fort Lauderdale) Raffle $100 for 1 and $150 for 2.

There will also be a Silent Auction- (designer jewelry, artwork etc.)

November 6th 2008- 6-8PM  Cocktail Party  at Clearview Gallery located in Mall outside Saks5th - Art  donated to BWCRU Golf Tournament for silent auction on view..

EDUCATION: Fern Rod

November 3rd,2008  Opening Meeting and Breakfast,   Invocation by Tutsie Lipkin.

Fashion Show by Rose Mayerowitz.

Dr. Goodwin will be the Speaker.

January 26th, 2009 Education Meeting & Breakfast- Karon Rzad RD (Dietician) & CDE (certified dietician and nutritionist),Clinical Nutrition Manager and Director at Miami Sylvester- Alternative ways to fight Cancer, Positive Thinking,etc.  Licensed Stress Management Coach.

May 4th 2009,  Closing Meeting

Nieman Marcus Day-  Cosmeticians and 10 vendor tables , each with 2 makeup chairs.

CULTURAL ARTS

January 12th, 2009 - BW Art Tour- no Bus- Lunch at Campagnola  $75.- afternoon art gallery.

February 13th, 2009 Phyllis and Billy Mack House Art Tour with Bus and Lunch- $250pp.  Lunch at Trump Golf Course.

March 26th, 2009 Biltmore Hotel and Coral Gables Tour -  Maddy Krauser

April 22nd & 23rd - Home of Anne Norton and Norton Museum- Lunch at Ruth Chris- $100.

The Rose- Franne Dickman  ( worked with Gloria Levin and Nancy Frydman )

GOING GREEN section. It will go out after Rosh Hashanah                                           

Barbara Janower is the Volunteer Chairperson.

JoAnne discussed Referrals: They are an added benefit we offer our members and families.  Our advocate contacts the Hospital. The Hospital sets up the appointment and  once the patient hears from the VIP personnel about the appointment, it is no longer in our hands.  Our purpose is to raise funds for research.

Received a Thank you note from Nessa  Tarchis  thanking us for all our good wishes.
