BWCRU GENERAL BOARD MEETING OCTOBER 8TH 2007

The meeting was called to order by President JoAnne Goldberg at 3:30 PM in the Bridgewood meeting Room.

 

TREASURERS REPORT: Eileen Locker

 From September 17th up to October 8th we took in $16,610.  We expended $13,024.  Of this amount we gave $5,000 to the Pap Corps.  In total we gave the Pap Corps $24,320 to date.

 

A Plaque is being made up to present to Bridgewood Association in appreciation for their generosity for letting us use their meeting room gratis.

 

MEMBERSHIP: Carole Beris

 We have 1,092 members and 26 renewals.

 

EDUCATION: Gloria Berkowitz

 

November 5th- Opening Breakfast, Fashion Show and speaker all set.

February 11, 2008 - Education Day

 

CULTURAL ARTS: Nancy Fried

 January 14th Art Tour; we have received 39 checks at $275 each. We are hoping for Ruth Chris for lunch.

 February 6th&7th- Botero show at Society of Fine arts- & Convention Center – lunch perhaps at Columbia- $100pp.

 March 8th Ballet- Judy Whitman to chair- “Cleopatra” afternoon matinee w/live orchestra- lunch at City Place- no transportation. $100.00

 April 3rd - Maddy Krauser chair – Jewish Museum (Interactive world of Super Heroes) and Holocaust memorial, Bus and lunch.

 

PUBLICITY: Arlene Levine

 We need colorful photographs to submit to media so we can get publicity for our events.

 

PAP CORPS LIASON: Tutsie Lipkin

 In the 5 years the Deerfield Facility has been open, there has been a 300% increase in patients. They are expanding and doubling the size of their facility.

We should have a page in “The Rose” with information from the Pap Corps about where our money is going and our progress etc.

 

FUND RAISING: Fern Rod

 Coins for the Cure - Terri Cohen, Please give her all change collected in a plastic bag.

 Cash for Trash-Loretta Melchior, All cell phones, cartridges etc. – leave by her front door.

 Tributes - Harriet Locke, Collected for September $1580. Would like Board members to pay up by the 25th of Month.

 Pap Angels- Judy Whitman, renewals being sent out.

Lunch & Card Party March 10th 2008. Sandy Konsker & Arlene Karyo

Walkathon March 29th - Lois Feldman

Plaques- Terry Wollins, $1860 for June,July&August,(3Plaques)

Golf Tournament December 10th (Big Splash)-  Sandy Kanin, Treasurer Peter Fried. Underwriting Faith Book, Look around community for new people who might be interested in underwriting.

Ruth Kravette  is doing a great job.  Decorations- Lorrie Grossman we will need volunteers on Sunday before tournament to work.  Bettye Garlovsky and Liz Maschler in charge of Auction.

 

THE ROSE: Fern Emas

 Need articles on time from committee heads in own writing.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

JoAnne - We are allowed a perc as members of Pap Corps, a phone call to the Hospital through our liaison, if we need an appointment with a Doctor.  We must call the president of our unit, who is the liaison to the Pap Corps and general public.

Thursday October 11th is a workshop for Pap Corps. 9:30 AM at Embassy Suites on Yamato Road.

 

Our next meeting will be November 19th at 3:30PM.
