The next meeting will be held on December 7th at the Bridgewood Meeting Room. TREASURER'S REPORT: Eileen Locker Eileen reported that as of Oct. 19th $44, 372 was the net amount collected. To date, $13,968 has been turned in to the Paps Corps. MEMBERSHIP: Cecily Gerla Cecily announced that we have 39 new members since Sept. This includes 20 new members, 1 new Life member, and 1 transfer for the month of Oct. Sandy Kanin announced that we have four new angels and one new friend. Marilyn Schulder stated that a total of $2,500 was turned in this month. Harriet Locke reported that $4,985 was the total for tributes this month with a net amount of $4335.75. Lois Feldman explained that the Walk-a-Thon scheduled for March 13th will follow the same format as last year. The printing is almost completed and information will be mailed out one week after the card party invitations are mailed. Margie Isroff stated that Chance for the Cure preparation will begin after Jan.1st. Nancy Fried mentioned that $70.92 was turned in for Coins for the Cure. Arlene Karyo requested that members solicit gifts for the Card Party. Anyone who needs a letter can call her. FUNDRAISING: Faith Book A request was made that anyone who hasn't signed up yet should submit their name(s) to her so that she will have a better idea of the total number attending so that we won't overbuy on favors, etc. Of the 41 foursomes who have signed up, at least one person in each group has paid. The gross will be lower since the price has been cut but the profit should be higher. To date, only 4 tennis players have signed up. Donations of $37,700 have been sent in and $7,125 from signage. This is significant since the moneys are all profit. The only auction item will be one golf cart. The roast for Jay will last about 30 minutes and he will be roasted by a few selected people. To date, the amount raised for the Golf and Tennis tournament is approximately $86, 000. Lorrie Grossman reported that she has started working on the decorations and that the gifts will be a package of knife spreaders for cheese and a small cutting board. Lorrie passed sheets around for people to work on decorations on Sunday, Dec. 13th and in the morning of the 14th. Decorations will include pizza boxes the cost of which has been underwritten. The favors will be tied in raffia. On Monday, Nov. 30th, volunteers will wrap the favors in Nancy Fried's garage. We should make sure that the word gets out about the Chris Evert exhibition so that we have a big audience. This event will take place in the morning so that it will not conflict with the golfers teeing off. EDUCATION: Fern Rod The opening meeting was very successful and extremely well received. However, profit from the vendors didn't come close to covering the cost of the breakfast and we owe the club $4,739.70. She announced that the executive board has voted to charge $10 for all upcoming opening and closing meetings. There was a discussion of the various vendors. Nancy thanked Fern for her hard work. Arlene Levine has submitted information to Stacy Ostrau at the Sun Sentinel and we did get good coverage for the summer theater outing. She also announced that a committee will generate e-mails for the membership list. Nancy Frydman stated that the next Rose will come out in March and that she will try to include card party pictures. The opening breakfast pictures are already posted on the website. The meeting was adjourned at 4:20 pm. Respectfully submitted, Carole Beris |
