BWCRU GENERAL BOARD MEETING DECEMBER 17^th, 2007.

ATTENDING: JoAnne Goldberg, Eileen Locker, Cecily Gerla, Carole Beris, Fern Rod, Nancy Fried, Rita Seiff, Nessa Tarchis, Fran Bernstein, Faith Book, Lois Feldman, Lorrie Grossman, Myra Jacobson, Sandi Kanin, Sandi Konsker, Maureen Kudler, Arlene Levine, Tutsie Lipkin, Eileen Siegel, Terry Wollins, Roz Wolpov.

ABSENT: Norma Davidson, Gloria Berkowitz, Ruth Berkowitz, Terri Cohen, Ferne Emas, Tina Kart, Arlene Karyo, Maddy Krauser, Harriet Locke, Liz Maschler, Marcia Meyers, Helene Miller, Debbie Steiner, Judy Whitman.

The meeting was called to order by President JoAnne Goldberg at 3:30 PM in the Bridgewood Meeting Room.

TREASURERS REPORT: - Eileen Locker

From November to December we took in $107,000. We expended $87.033, for an overall total of $19,910.87. We gave $85,150 to the Pap Corps this month, for a total $132,000 to date. We have a balance of $148,762.00 as of December 16^th.

MEMBERSHIP: - Carole Beris

We have 50 new members since August, for a total of 1,118 members.(114 yearly members still not paid).

We designed a new renewal card to send out.

CULTURAL ARTS: - Nancy Fried

January 14^th Art Tour- Sold Out-

We will have a guided tour of the Convention Center on both the January and February 6^th & 7^th Art Tours.

Feb 6&7 – Botero exhibit- Gloria Hoder will be Lecturer. She has lectured at Yale University Art Center. There is still room on Feb 7^th.

February 19^th Swing & Jazz at Spanish River Church. Paul Cohen on Trumpet ( Big Band Era) $26.pp Cecily Gerla.

April 3^rd Holocaust Memorial & Jewish Museum (Super Heroes exhibit) Docents for both, & Lunch at Sam’s Jewish Restaurant. $80. Maddy Krauser

LIASON TO PAP CORPS: Tutsie Lipkin

Cedar’s Hospital Miami now known as UM Hospital- 360 beds open for Oncology Patients.

The 13^th floor at Jackson Memorial now has the new Stem Cell transplantation Center.

Deerfield will have the new facility on the ground floor open in January 2008. The Pap Corps will be upstairs.

April 22^nd—1 day Conference “Well Being/Being Well “ Keynote speaker is Donna Shlala. Also Deepak Chopra MD. will speak. This will be at The Intercontinental Hotel Miami. $100 for the day.

EDUCATION:

February 11th Education Day breakfast- 9:30 at BW Club. Dr. Falcone, from The Hospital and Asst. Dean of FAU will speak and we will have a Cancer Survivor speak.

May5th Closing Breakfast- Sharon Parker, author of “Look Out Cancer Here I Come” also ,Chance For A Cure , and we will have a slide show of our 2007 BWCRU Pictures.

FUND RAISING: - Fern Rod

Royal Crown- Myra Jacobson- $1500

Tributes-Harriet Locke- $3230 for November

Pap Angel- Judy Whitman- $400.

Golf Towels- Maxine Miller $1500.

Friends & Family- We have 8.

Walkathon –Lois Feldman, We have an underwriter for the bagels ( David Beckerman),letters will be mailed out January 8^th.

March 10th card party, Sandi Konsker - “Kisses For The Cure”, 11:00AM-$100pp. Raffles 3 for $25. 1 for $10. We need gifts for the raffles- There will be less raffles, but they will be packaged and worth more.- Invitations will go out January 1st.

Golf Tournament: - Sandi Kanin We raised approximately $275,000 gross. We received nice notes from many who attended. Many Thank You’s to Faith for underwriting,Arlene for publicity, JoAnne for overall help,,Tutsie for help with table arrangements,and kudos to Lorrie Grossman and her helpers for a fabulous looking room and inventive and exciting idea. Thanks to the Executive board for their support and all the Board members that were involved, Mike Wasserman for pictures etc. It was a great Party- the Food was outstanding- Chef very inventive, the music was great.
