| BWCRU GENERAL BOARD MEETING-

ATTENDING: Charlotte Greenstein, Eileen Siegel, Gloria Katz, Lois Feldman, Arlene Levine, Cecily Gerla, Fern Rod, Nessa Tarchis, Roz Wolpov, Joan Haberman, Marsha Raskin, Carole Beris, Eileen Locker, Faith Book, Rita Seiff. The meeting was called to order at 3:35 by Fern Rod in Nancy Fried's absence. Carole Beris explained that the mistakes in last month's minutes were corrected. TREASURER'S REPORT: Eileen Locker reported that our chapter grossed $35,292 and the net amount after expenses is $29,087. We have given the Paps Corp $6200 this month. To date, this year's total given to the corps from June 1st is $22,473. MEMBERSHIP: Cecily Gerla announced that we have 1,166 members. This includes 43 new women members and 2 male members. In the category of Life Members, we have 3 new members and 3 individuals have upgraded their membership to Life. CULTURAL ARTS: Roz Wolpov reported that there was a profit of $2524 from the Lips Gospel Brunch. She thanked Lois Feldman for running the event. 93 people paid and 82 people attended. The people who could not attend left their money as a donation. The next movie date is scheduled for Jan. 22nd. At the present time, only 32 people are signed up and we need to spread the word as many people don't use the website or channel 63. Myra Jacobson has been given the job of researching the mike and amplifier needed for the movie and other events. The expenses will come out of the day's profits. Roz mentioned that several checks were turned in today and the last movie list will be called. The Jan. 7th art tour has 41 people signed up. There has been a change to Sheila Elias's studio before the Convention Center Int. Art Fair. To date, 20 people have signed up for the Feb. 11th visit to Bake House and Wynnewood. There was a discussion as to the best way to utilize an offer from an anonymous donor who wants a matching funds project. Roz will talk to her and see what ideas they can come up with. One suggestion was the amount of the money boards be the match from the Golf and Tennis Tournament. EDUCATION: Fern Rod is still working on the May meeting. One of the restaurants in Boca would be willing to offer a wine tasting evening. The executive board had decided that is would not be a good activity for our unit. FUND RAISING: Faith Book reported that the total for plaques this month was $3105; Pap Angels was $600, Friends was $1000 and Royal Crown totaled $1500. There was an expense of $704.75 for new cards. The selection of cards has been increased and includes a much broader variety. Lois Feldman reported that Walkathon invitations are going out after Jan. 11th. She introduced Charlotte Greenstein who will be the next chairperson. Card Party invitations were being stuffed today and will go out shortly. Arlene Levine reported that no pictures have been published by the Sun Sentinel since the summer theater party but they did include dates on the pullout calendar. Faith also was happy with the fact that there will be a tennis tournament this year. 14 people have signed up for it and to date; there are 51 foursomes for the golf tournament. There will be a light continental breakfast for the tennis players. There are 73 people signed up for dinner only. To date, we have collected $40,730 in contributions and $10,425 in signage. Joan Haberman was thanked for her help. To date, we have collected $112, 000. The gifts are all wrapped and Lorrie Grossman has the decorations well under way. There will be only one auction item. The golf cart will be auctioned off by Jay after the roast. The cost to us is $3700 and the minimum bid will start at $5,000. The cart will be displayed where people sign up. Courses 2 and 4 will be used and Joanne Greenberg will run the tournament. The winners' names will be displayed on a board but Faith will revisit her committee re announcing the winner as was suggested by the Executive Board. There will be no food service during the roast. The time frame from 6-7:15 pm will be for dancing and eating. The roast will follow and then desserts will reopen. The next meeting will be held on Jan. 11th. Respectfully submitted, Carole Beris |
